Adolphe JOURDAN (1825‐1889) ✿

Adolphe Jourdan (1825‐1889) was a French painter, known for his genre scenes and his portraits, born in Nîmes.
Adolphe Jourdanl joined the Beaux-Arts de Paris as a student of Charles Jalabert. Honored for his work in 1864 and 1866, he exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1876 and in New York. At the end of his life, he became director of the Beaux-Arts in Paris.
He died at home following a stroke in his study.
