Marcel Dyf (French, 1899-1985) ✿

Marcel Dyf (1899-1985) was a French impressionist painter was born in Paris.
He painted frescoes in the city halls of Saint-Martin-de-Crau and Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer. He also painted frescoes in the Museon Arlaten and in the dining hall of the Collège Ampère, both of which are in Arles. He also designed windows inside the Église Saint-Louis in Marseille.

In 1954, Dyf met model and soon-to-be “artist muse” Claudine Godat. At 19, Claudine was some 36 years younger than Dyf, and striking in all aspects. The artist believed her to be his perfect model. Godat proved to be an artistic catalyst in Dyf’s life, causing the journey in the artist’s oeuvre to maturation. In 1956, the couple married, buying a 16th century hunting lodge located at Bois d’Arcy near Versailles. His works was exhibited and sold at the Petrides Gallery, the Salon d’Automne, the Salon des Tuileries and the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris as well as galleries in Cannes, Nice, Marseille and Strasbourg. Overseas, it was exhibited at the Frost Reed Gallery in London.
