Born in 1936, Valparaiso, Chile. Died in 2011 in Taroudant, Marocco.
Claudio Bravo (1936-2011) in mainly known for his paintings and drawings. The subject matter of his works was mainly still life, including draped cloths, figures and portraits, and paper-wrapped packages. Bravo painted many prominent figures in society, including dictator Francisco Franco of Spain and First Lady Imelda Marcos of the Philippines. Bravo presented remarkable hyperrealism, including scenes from Morocco (where he used to live), demonstrating his powerful technical skill.
His works are part of collections such as Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Santiago, Chile; Museum Boymans-van Beuningen Rotterdam, The Netherlands; Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Massachusetts; Ludwig Museum Cologne, Germany; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; and The Museum of Modern Art, New York.
