Illustrator and Hyperrealism Pastel drawing  Dirk Dzimirsky uses nothing but graphite pencils or charcoal to produce these detailed portraits. According to the man himself, “I choose drawing over painting as this allows me to create many layers of lines and dots which react to each other in order to create a vibrant texture with directions and movement.”
Despite using photos as references for his drawings, he claims he’s not after a perfect reproduction, but merely uses the photo loosely once the proportions are established and draws as if he were using a live model, working with movement and expression and admitting a lot of it is improvised.
