✿ Lev TCHISTOVSKY (1902-1969) ✿

Born in 1902 in Pskov, Russia, Lev Chistovsky (or Tchistovsky) was a Russian figurative painter who concentrated mainly on female images.
He used classical realism in all his work, usually portraying sensuality in females, and always in search of technical perfection.

He attended the Fine Art School in St. Petersburg, where he was a pupil of Vassili Savinsky and Alfred Eberling. He also studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and later in Florence.
He met Irene Klestova in Venice in the late 1920s, who was an art student from Saint Petersburg, and had already exhibited her paintings at the Salon des Independents in Paris. They got married and settled in Paris.
