William A. BREAKSPEARE (British, 1855-1914) ✿
William A Breakspeare was a british painter but also a foundation member of the Birmingham art circle. He studied in Paris and was consequently influenced by Thomas Couture. He was a member of the Newlyn school in Cornwall. He exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1891 – 1903, and at the Royal Society of British Artists and also the Grosvenor Gallery. His subjects were mainly of genre or 18th Century costume pieces.
