Marc CHATOV, 1953 ✿

Marc Chatov is Contemporary American Realist painter. Marc was born in Key Largo Florida in 1953 and moved to Atlanta in 1962. As a fine art major at Georgia State University, Marc studied drawing under the late James Sitton, who was acclaimed for his drawing and anatomy instruction.
He also studied at the Art Students League in New York under Michael Burban and Nelson Shanks. A devout romantic, with a passion for traditional realism and the academic principles of fine art painting, Marc began an intense apprenticeship with his father and uncle in his early twenties.
Today, Marc is regarded as one of the most accomplished of contemporary portrait painters, having been featured in Money Magazine as one of the top eight portrait artists in America.He is represented by Portraits, Inc. in New York and has been with Portrait South since 1987.
He is a member of The Salmagundi Club in New York, Oil Painters of America, and is an Advisory Board Member with the Portrait Society of Atlanta. The Chatov’s works have been exhibited at the High Museum of Art, Atlanta, Mobile Museum, Alabama, Salmagundi Club, New York, Cochran Gallery, Washington D.C., ABS Gallery, Dusseldorf Germany, Columbus Museum, Georgia, Evergreen Fine Art, Colorado, Hunter Museum, Tennessee, Museum of Arts e Sciences, Macon Georgia, Marietta Cobb Museum of Arts, Marietta Georgia, Bennington Center for the Arts, Vermont, Insight Gallery, Fredricksburg Texas and Left Bank Art Gallery, St. Simons Island, Georgia.







Marc has painted over 250 commissioned portraits for families, organizations and institutions. His fine art paintings and portraits hang in over 450 public and private collections. His paintings have been seen in various newspapers and magazines such as American Art Collector, Fine Art Connoisseur, Atlanta Journal Constitution, Art e Antiques and Southern Accents. His work has won numerous awards including the Governor’s Artist of Excellence Award, Top Ten, Merit and Honor awards at the Portrait Society of America.
