A native of Marmande (France), Abel Boyé (1864-1933) moved to the École des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux, then Paris, at the age of 17. He excelled in portraiture and mythological scenes. His notoriety enabled him to obtain official orders, such as the decoration of the ceiling of the rotunda of the foyer of the Ducourneau theater in Agen.
