Duffy SHERIDAN ✿

Duffy Sheridan is a Realistic Figurative painter, 1947. Has been painting since he was a child at the knee of his father who was a highly regarded artist. He is entirely self-taught and is driven by the spirituality of his work as a member of the Baha'i Faith. He is highly influenced by his emphasis on achieving the highest spiritual levels possible in his work.

Sheridan moved his family to the Falkland Islands in 1976 to assist the Baha'i community there.  He developed in himself a power of observation of his subject.  He often says, "When doing portraits, I need to spend time with the person so that I really know the soul of that person and that is what I paint."  In 1986 Sheridan moved to Samoa for fine years returning to the States in 1991.  He has won international recognition and fame as a major figure in the realist school of art.

Fred Ross, Chairman of the Art Renewal Center believes that Duffy Sheridan is one of the top 15 or 20 artists alive today.  He has contributed to many of the International ARC Salon Competition events.

In 2005 his "Self Portrait" won the Director's Award at the International Guild of Realism.  His self-portrait masterpiece currently shows at Mary Martin Gallery in Charleston, SC.
Don Clapper, founder of the International Guild of Realism says, "His technique, his ability to render light and shodow, is absolutely gorgeous.  He really captures the emotions and the life of the individuals that he paints."
Mary Martin, founder of the Mary Martin Galleries, attests that Duffy Sheridan is one of the top artists painting in the world today.  "His ability to paint far more than a likeness but the deeper character of the person and their connection with the world is a talent rarely seen in any lifetime."
