Wendy Arnold was born in New Zealand. She arrived in Perth in 1971. Pursuing a career in art she studied for 3 years at the West Australian Institute of Technology, majoring in painting and printmaking. Extensive travel overseas finally brought her back to Sydney to do a postgraduate at Alexander Mackie (now named College of Fine Arts).
